FAQ

We hope this section answers your queries, if you have any further questions please contact us, we will be happy to help.

1. Where do you deliver?

We deliver to the majority of the UK mainland, there are just a couple of places in the very far north of Scotland where we have difficulties getting the meat all the way from Devon. We can deliver to the Isle of Wight for the standard £8. Deliveries to Northern Ireland cost in the region of £20.

2. How is my meat delivered?

We deliver the meat locally (in the Plymouth area) in our chiller vans and use an overnight courier for national deliveries. The local deliveries are charged at a fixed rate of £5 and national deliveries are £8. This ensures you get your meat in perfect condition.

The meat is delivered fresh, so will be perfectly fine in your fridge for up to a week or, if you are not sure when you will eat it (how can you wait?!), pop it into the freezer, and use within 6 months.

3. When is my meat delivered?

Once we receive your order it will take us a little while to process the order; then we will email you with a date to expect delivery. Our delivery days are usually Fridays for local customers and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for national customers. Deliveries are usually made within a week of the order being placed.

National deliveries are made using an overnight courier, and we expect the deliveries to arrive before lunchtime.

4. What happens if I am not in when my meat arrives?

We ask the courier to leave the package in a safe place - normally in the porch, on the doorstep, in a shed/garage or behind a bush.

5. How is the meat packaged?

Our meat is vacuum packed (this keeps the meat sealed) and placed in insulated boxes containing ice packs. This keeps it chilled during delivery.

We have a box-return system to enable us to reuse them.

6. How much will my meat cost?

All our prices are given on a per kilo basis (except some of the standard boxes). Because nature is not uniform and animals vary in size, so do our cuts. Therefore, we can't give you an exact weight for each product, only an approximation. On the order form you'll see that we give a maximum and minimum weight range. The majority of cuts will be in the middle of that weight range, e.g. rib joints on the bone weight range between 2-4kg. An average rib joint would weigh 3kg, but not more than 4kg or less than 2kg.

We will only charge you for the actual weight of meat we send to you.

If you would like a particular cut on the larger side or the smaller side of the weight range then do let us know.

7. How do I pay?

On our Internet site we use a 100% safe secure-server to transfer your card details. We only debit your card on the day of despatch once your items have been scanned through. In the box there will be an invoice telling you exactly how much the meat costs, as all prices are £/kg.

PLEASE NOTE - We do not accept Solo or Electron cards. We do accept American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro.

Alternatively send us a cheque by return... so far we have not had one bad debt! (*people who buy Well Hung Meat are nice, honest folk)

If you prefer to give us your card details over the phone (or just want some recipe advice!) please call us on 0845 230 3131.

8. Can I send a meat box as a gift?

We can arrange for personalised messages to be included with your gift and you can specify a different delivery address to the invoice address. Just let us know the details when you place your order.

9. Privacy

We believe that customers are stakeholders in our business. That's why we don't give, sell or swap any of the information you give us with anyone else.

10. Butchering for Farmers

We are able to butcher and package organic meat for local farmers who use Langs abbatoir in Ashburton. We can collect the carcass, hang, butcher, and package the meat here at our premises in Buckfastleigh. Please contact us for prices.
