In 1998, our founder, Geoff, started selling his lovingly reared organic lambs direct from Carswell Farm on the beautiful South Devon coast. Today, some of our beef still comes from Carswell and we work with a small group of local farmers who are equally passionate about producing slow-grown, high-welfare, grass-fed animals.
Our animals are humanely dispatched 3 miles from Well Hung HQ, then transported here to be properly dry-aged (3 weeks in the case of beef, 1 for lamb and pork). Our team of skilled artisan butchers then cut the meat to order. This gives us the flexibility to deliver what you want, and a few of the more interesting cuts as well!
Your order is carefully packed with ice in an insulated box. We use polystyrene boxes because of their insulating properties and price. They are re-usable but we are always researching more environmentally-friendly alternatives. Your box is despatched via overnight courier for delivery to you the next day. Our short supply chain ensures much lower food miles than in the supermarkets.
We despatch our meat fresh (not frozen) so you can choose what to do with it. Because the meat stays chilled in transit, it doesn’t matter if you’re not at home to take delivery - most of our customers aren’t. Just specify a safe place for our courier to leave it and it will be waiting for your return.
