Beef Curry
Serves 4
Ingredients
500g Well Hung Steak Mince
100g canned tomatoes
2 medium onions skinned and finely chopped
2 garlic cloves skinned and finely chopped
1 inch fresh ginger peeled and finely chopped
½ level teaspoon chilli powder
½ level teaspoon ground turmeric
2 level teaspoons ground coriander
1 level teaspoon ground cumin
½ level teaspoon garam masala
1 level teaspoon dried mint leaves
1 ¼ teaspoon salt
220g frozen peas
¼ pint natural yoghurt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
To Serve
Rice, Naan Bread and Raita
Method
Put mince in a heavy saucepan over a low heat, stirring occasionally. Allow the mince to cook in its own fat until all the moisture evaporates (the natural fat from the mince will begin to separate). Chop the tomatoes. Add the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, powdered spices , dried mint, salt, tomatoes and peas. Mix them all well cover and leave to cook over a low heat for 45-50 minutes. All the ingredients should be well blended and the mince and peas are tender!!
Pour in the yoghurt and lemon juice. Stirring constantly, fry the mince until
the yogurt and the juice are well absorbed.
