This last week we seem to have bypassed autumn and somehow found ourselves in winter. The evenings are closing in, the days getting colder and a lit fire in the evening spells paradise. All signs that it’s time for us to start making the most of it. So here’s a few of our recommendations for savouring the season.
Enjoying the season means really making the most of what it has to offer, that’s why wintery walks are at the top of our list. Preparing for the cold outdoors is all part of the fun. Getting cosy in a duvet like coat, gloves, hat and scarf means that you’re ready for whatever Mother Nature has to throw at you. Take a deep breathe to brace yourself at the door and bravely venture out into the unknown. Enjoy trails that time forgot and crisp frosted grass crunching under your feet. Yes this adventure will be cold but it is also extremely refreshing. The magnificence of nature to thrive and create such beauty in cold conditions it truly astounding.
Of course, after such artic explorations there is nothing better than settling for the evening in front of the fireplace. Accompanied by a traditional bowl of comforting stew or casserole makes for the most wonderful evening. Kick back, relax and enjoy the warm.
Autumn isn’t just about getting cosy and hibernating, no it’s about fun and entertainment. Bonfire night is the beginning of the festivities. Filled with splendour and awe it’s a night where everyone gets together to enjoy stunning night-time displays. With a piled high hotdog in one hand, a sparkler in the other and head tilted firmly towards the sky there really is no better way to enjoy an autumnal evening.
One of the best things about autumn is enjoying its seasonal produce. Varieties of squash and root vegetables accompanied by beautifully slow cooked meat simply creates pure comfort on a plate. Enough said.
